I pretty much love all the rooms in Aerin Lauder's homes, but the study in her East Hampton house has always spoken to me. I can't get enough of the black lacquered walls, built-in bookshelves, David Hicks carpet, and of course, the fireplace. If this isn't the coziest chic I've ever seen, than I don't know what is!

p.s. I cannot wait for the launch of her lifestyle brand, AERIN...if only I had news on that!

With all the fashion week buzz recently, I'm reminded of one of my favorite fashion photographers: Norman Parkinson. An innovator in his field, Parkinson took models out of the studio and into real-life settings. His classic images evoke the glamour and sophistication of fashion during the 1930s through the 1980s. For more, pick up a copy of Norman Parkinson: A Very British Glamour by Louise Baring.

Gold is never far from my mind whether it's accessories for my home or new jewels for my wardrobe. Gold and black is a natural pairing and looks equally great in the summer paired with a tan as it does in the winter mixed with riding boots or a fur vest. For home, I'm loving this art deco black and gold wallpaper that is quite the steal at $86.00 per double roll. It would look amazing in a powder room guessed it, gold fixtures and accessories!

p.s. Isn't Cleopatra a great Halloween costume? It's never too early to start planning....

To really make your décor — plaids are key — a vintage Skotch Kooler is a must. Luckily they abound on Etsy — I found this one for only $34.00. Paired with some plaid blankets and you'll be set to go!

Caitlin McGauley is a watercolor artist whose work first caught my eye when she appeared in the first issue of Lonny (she is the magazine's illustrator). Caitlin lives in NYC and her paintings are often a reflection of the city life — ranging from chic interiors to vintage jewelry. What I love about Caitlin's work is that her prints are not only beautiful and charming, but always seem to be relevant and spot-on with my taste. Keeping up with Caitlin's blog, aptly titled Caitlin's Sketchbook, and her once a week postings on the Lonny blog are a must for me. I know I'll be sure to find something inspiring and worth a second look.

Following the high-flying thrills of stewardess Maggie (Christina Ricci) and her fellow fly-girls, the show brings a '60s fashion fix sure to rival Mad Men. With '60s fashion in full swing this fall I can't think of a better look to channel. So grab a cocktail glass, slip on some kitten heels, and don't forget your clip-ons and lipstick....we're heading up, up, and away!

Everywhere I look lately I see snakes popping up...thank goodness they're not real! While I might not be adventurous enough to have a real snake draped around my neck I could certainly do for Kara Ross' double snake head necklace — this heavy curb chain number has my name all over it :)

Jewel tones are a great way to segue into cold-weather dressing because they're really a more subdued version of summer's colorful palette. When it comes to jewel tones, one piece of advice to keep in mind: simple = chic. This is definitely a time to under accessorize, and if you're anything like me, this is easier said than done!

HIGH | La Fiorentina by David Hicks in Ivory/Camel, Furbish Studio, $98.00/yd | Louis Ghost Chair, Design Within Reach, $410.00 | Starburst Mirror, Crate & Barrel, $199.00 | Trina Turk Needlepoint GEO Bargello Pillow, Clayton Gray Home, $85.00 | Small Meurice Pendant, Jonathan Adler, $375.00 | LOW | Beige Fabric 3-Light Chrome Chandelier,, $87.99 | Luxe Flocked Pillow, Chiasso, $48.00 | Connect the Blocks Camel and White, Spoonflower, from $18/yd | Mystic Round Back Arm Chair, Target, set of 2 $299.99 | Oversized Gold Sunburst Mirror, Target, $89.99

I tend to have pretty neo-traditional taste, with the exception of a few things; the Louis Ghost Chair being one of them. What's not to love about lucite and the reinvention of of the classic Louis XV chair? Perhaps the $400.00 plus price tag. Hello, Target! A pair here will set you back only $299.99 — what a steal!

Delicious has arrived! Besides his mile-long roster of celebrity clients, Martyn Lawrence-Bullard is known for his eclectic, global style so it comes as no surprise that his collection references his exotic travels. It's hard to tell from these images, but many of the fabrics are embroidered and hand-woven. The stripe in the chevron print (third row) is actually a greek key. Kudos Martyn!

View the entire Martyn Lawrence-Bullard for Schumacher collection here.

p.s. Big thanks to my friends Carolyn and Cynthia at Diane James Home for reminding me of the launch of the collection — check out their post on MLB's collection with Schumacher here.

Teen Vogue staffer Eva Chen snapped this photo of Karl Lagerfeld's sketch of Fendi's upcoming ready-to-wear collection while visiting their headquarters in Rome. Its colors are an easy transition into fall: the perfect mix of coral and camel hues. I'll definitely be looking out for this look among the collection to see it brought to life!

The iconic NYC landmark Indochine is a mainstay for the fashion establishment, some of whom have been coming here since the beginning (over 25 years ago). Part of Indochine's enduring qualities include its stylish décor; including black and white tiles and the famed banana leaf wallpaper. "Indochine is one of those thing, timelessly cool," says Diane von Furstenberg. I would have to agree!

I love a bold, mixed metal look because it can really be a statement-maker. I would wear this horn necklace with everything from a simple tee to a printed dress — you really can't go wrong. I'm obsessed with tabletop maven Kim Seybert — her studded placemat would look perfect on a fall spread.

Although your back to school days might be behind you, September is the perfect time to assess your office space and get organized. Whether you're a mod or a trad girl, there's something for everyone — I recommend mixing and matching styles to create your own look. I love the simplicity of the Parsons desk and favor traditional Mint Julep cups for storing pens and pencils a perfect mix of styles for me :)

Anna Dello Russo is clearly all that (and then some), but two of her Vogue Nippon staffers, Aurora Sansone and Viviana Volpicella are at the top of my watch list. Like ADR, both Aurora and Viviana are Italian, have a fearless sense of style, and don't take themselves too seriously. With the official start of Fashion Week yesterday, I'll be keeping an eye out for these two among the street style photos...they are definitely ones to watch!

Bid adieu to your wedges and caftans — fall is here and it's all about ladylike textures and touches. The modern lady effortlessly mixes old and new: a silk scarf and chunky knit sweater a là Mary Kate Steinmiller. The modern lady knows her proportions and when to add a pop of color — orange is my favorite standout against fall's camel hues. And although the modern lady is fearless when it comes to trying new trends, ladylike is her mantra.

I'm a longtime fan of Boston-based ceramist Jill Rosenwald (her shop was one of my first Etsy discoveries). Her newest collection features three new patterns: a bold Union Jack, an ikat, and Plimpton (pictured top right). With a newly released rug collection and a fabric collection in the works, Jill Rosenwald is one to watch!

Jayson Home's Moroccan-inspired plates are perfect for small bites and dessert. And I love this vintage gold necklace from Avant es Après. A large medallion and fringe....yes, please!

Constructed from hand-woven kilim and brushed leather, they are timeless and certainly outfit-making. I am picturing myself now in skinny black pants and a shawl-collar cardigan (a.k.a, my winter uniform). Bye-bye Fryes....hello Cobra Society!
