Recently I've been finding myself thinking a lot about bedrooms, even though I'm about ten projects away from redoing ours. I find myself studying headboards and nightstands, and dreaming about new linens. This bedroom by Miles Redd is major inspiration with its de Gournay wallpaper, gourd lamps, and mirrored consoles. Not to mention the leopard carpet....don't you die?!

I bought a really fab pair of white ginger jar lamps on Etsy last week and have been shopping around for other great finds ever since. I love this little rattan stool — I would paint it a fun color like coral or pink. This brass trunk caught my eye too. It would be perfect at the foot of a twin bed, filled with treasures or extra blankets. Happy Hunting!

After profiling the younger Swanson sisters — Veronica Swanson Beard and Claiborne Swanson Frank — I figured it was high time to focus on Alexis Swanson Traina. Her San Francisco home is the grandest of the three with its large art collection and whimsical furnishings. Like her sisters, Alexis doesn't shy away from color or lack from creativity. Some of my favorite elements include the conservatory and the lucite balusters on the staircase...she certainly has an eye for the details!

Winter is my favorite time for pewter as I think it pairs well with both whites and other wintry fabrics and materials such as plaid and wood. Juliska's pewter collection is one of my favorites and looks great with a variety of tablescapes. Yesterday officially marked the first day of the Chinese New Year, which is the year of the dragon. I have a strong fondness for all things chinoiserie and especially those involving dragons. One of my favorite china patterns is Mottahedeh's Blue Dragon, which also comes in a very lovely red print. And no post about dragons or chinoiserie would be complete without a mention of Schumacher's Chiang Mai. My favorite is the turquoise background. I love it in pretty much any form: pillows, stationery, wallpaper....you really can't go wrong!

The weather has been particularly dreary in Atlanta the past few days so I took it upon myself to find not only the chicest budget buys, but the most colorful. I've had my eye on these crocodile boxes from Furbish studio recently. They're a really great price for the size and would be perfect on a console table or bookshelf. I also love this Greek key pillow I found on the popular Etsy shop Willa Skye. The pattern really pops in this hot pink — it could be just the transition my living room needs right about now!

Inspiration: Hero and Ladder by Cy Twombly

My light and bright mood is continuing today with this Cy Twombly painting. The mix of whites, blueish grays, and shots of pinks and fuschias are terrific inspiration. I would do a similar palette in a bedroom or living room: white walls and mostly neutral furniture with a few key pieces in pink and fuschia. Wouldn't it be terribly chic?!

Cozy chic is a sort of mantra for me. Now that we're getting deep into winter it's time to get serious about our cozy essentials. Not only do I enjoy a good throw, but also a pretty cardigan like this Navajo number from Old Navy and most definitely some leopard scuffs. In general, I enjoy being cozy without compromising my chic...who doesn't?!

PAINTED PILLOWS

I love these painted pillows from Wary Meyers depicting some of my favorite artists. The series is based on the Abstract Expressionist works of Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, and Robert Motherwell and each one is hand painted. The black and white Franz Kline pillows are my favorites and the ones I can most easily picture in any décor. I'm feeling so inspired by the pillows, I'm taking the afternoon off to visit my favorite museum :)

Last night on the red carpet at the Golden Globes we saw a plethora of white gowns on the likes of Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain, and Elle Macpherson. I too, am reaching for whites more and more this time of the year. For me it's the simplicity and freshness of white, which really matches my mood right now. While bright and colorful is normally my mantra (and always will be), I understand that everything needs to be balanced and white is usually a key part of that equation. And while I love the white walls in Claiborne Swanson Frank's apartment pictured above, you'll find me sticking to white accents like these foo dogs from fave resource Chic Shop, or this cowhair pillow, which would look equally amazing in a colorful or neutral space.

Besides getting organized here on Kelly Market, I've also been doing some major reorganizing around my house. And judging from the lines at the Container Store, I'm not the only one with "organize closets" at the top of my resolutions list. I've been focusing on my craft and supplies closets (not exactly the sexiest of spaces), but I did manage to squeeze a few fun things into my cart. I've been eyeing these lacquered boxes for some time online and finally bought some in the store. They come in a million sizes and colors and are priced very reasonably (note: some were a little banged up). I also found a fun acrylic tissue box holder perfect for my bathroom or vanity table. Just love the Container Store — so many goodies!

WELCOME!

Welcome to the brand new Kelly Market! I could not be more proud and excited to unveil the new look. I've been hard at work the past few months, quietly plotting, scheming, and coding away to get to this point and I'm very happy the big reveal has finally arrived!

You've probably already taken in a few of the changes and I've also laid them out for you above. I've made the linkbar at the top easier to navigate when browsing for older posts — there's also a search button too, which is located at the top right corner. I've added a slider which I'll keep updated with the latest and greatest KM posts...you won't miss a beat! And at the bottom of the page I've included a bar of the most popular posts in case you missed something the past few weeks or months....or maybe just want to revisit :)

Next up is something I've been planning for months...literally! I'm pleased to announce I'll now officially be fielding questions in the form of our latest feature — "Ask Kelly." I often receive emails from readers asking questions about where to find products or questions about decorating and I think this will make for a perfect post. I'm really looking forward to hearing more you all, my dear readers, so please continue to ask away, and I'll start posting some of my favorite Q&A's.

I've also added an improved commenting system and freshened up the email campaigns for those of you who receive those (I highly recommend signing up, if you don't!). Also, there are a few bugs I'll be working out the next few days, in particular some compatibility issues with Internet Explorer. On that note, if anyone experiences any problems with anything, please don't hesitate to drop me a line at kelly@kellymarket.com. My inbox is always open for feedback and/or problems, questions, concerns, etc. I love hearing from you — and hopefully not just about bugs!

As I mentioned yesterday, it's recently gotten very chilly in Atlanta and I find myself assessing my cold weather accessories. As we come off the joyous times of holiday vacation, it's nice to have a little something to carry us into the dreary territory of cold January days.
